Rituals: White magic

Why do we need rituals?

A magic ritual is a series of actions, through which the body and mind can be focused on manifesting the certain goal or desire. However, on a much deeper level it is about getting the energy of an individual or of a group of like-minded people for achieving certain goal, or, to merge together with the power of God or with cosmic consciousness.
There are two types of rituals – the first serves as a connection and worship of deities and with the second type, one follows fulfilment of the a specific desire or target. Rituals which worship deities are normally celebrated on the traditional religious

holidays. Magic rituals are used for many practical purposes such as healing, success, increasing personal power.
There is one more type of ritual to mention which falls exactly between both categories: the Pledge Ritual, in which you put yourself in the service of the Gods, but also at the same time working on yourself and your surrounding environment. Mage needs to work individually in order to create his/her own rituals and at a later stage to incorporate into the rituals also other beings that support the desired result.

General Guidelines for Magic Rituals

1. Preparation (things to do before starting a ritual):
  • Define the purpose of the ritual. It is crucial to define it in a positive way- what you want to achieve. (If you define, what you don't want, you will attract exactly this situation!)
  • Determine the sequence of events. (You need to know, what you will do, and why.)
  • Have the equipment you will need at hand. (You need to gather everything before start, so that you can be focused during the ritual only on the desired result.)
  • Prepare a sacred space. (The space should be in general clean, fresh and you should feel good about the space around you.)
  • Prepare yourself physically and mentally. (You need to be fresh, alert, relaxed and anxious in a positive way and feel strong and healthy.)
  • Use compass and find the four cardinal directions.

2. Opening the magic circle (how to start your ritual):
  • Make a circle. Call the four elements and four archangels to each quarter of the circle. (Read here how to create a magic circle.)
  • Look for the gateways between the worlds, empty your mind, meditate.
3. Summoning the Deities:
  • Concentrate on the deities. Feel them. Speak to them, attract them by your love and compassion. Try to "hear" their messages.
  • Receive their energy. Surrender, block your ego to act. Be grateful.
4. Intercession/ Incantation:
  • Ask for fulfilment of your desire
  • Focus power/energies to the fulfilment of your desire.
  • Make a sacrifice, if needed.
5. Prayers (the final part of the magic ritual):
  • Give thanksgiving to all helping Deities/ energies.
  • Carry out the worship of the deities.
  • Chanel the energy, which wasn't used, back into the earth.
6. The End of the Ritual (removing the circle):
  • Mental and physical cancelling of the circle. (Read more about magic circle.)
  • Make a sound (say aloud, that ritual is over, clap your hands, or use for example a bell), which signalizes, that the ritual is over.
7. After the Ritual (removing the residuals):
  • Tidy things away, clean the used equipment (with clean water, salt…) and put it away from the altar.
  • Destroy the things from ritual. You can burn them and put the ashes to the ground/water/wind. Or, bury the remaining residuals in the ground.

In general, the most traditional orders of sorceresses follow these guidelines. But discrepancies do occur, because each magic circle develops its own ritual practices.

According to the order of sorceresses, the cardinal directions are represented by members, who sometimes have an officer’s title. Officers can fulfil different tasks in the hierarchy and in the different rituals. For example, the officer of the east is normally responsible for preparing the room and the utensils. He opens the circle, looks for the north on the compass and opens the gate between the worlds.
