The movie tells us two stories: first is the story of a prince Siddhartha, who sets out on a journey to solve the problem of universal suffering. Ultimately, he attains enlightenment and becomes the Buddha. The second story is about search of the Tibetan monks for a child who is the rebirth of their great Buddhist teacher, Lama Dorje. Monks believe they have found a candidate for the child in whom their teacher is reborn: an American boy called Jesse.
This movie teaches us about the ideas of Buddhism, it shows, that we don't live on this earth only one time, we are coming back and are again and again challenged by new experiences, which lead us to the realization of the final truth, who we really are and where are we coming from. This knowledge will safe us and stop the wheel of our reincarnations.
This movie was inspired by the James Redfield's book called The Celestine Prophecy. The story is about ancient manuscripts found in Peru, the Insights, which contain profound knowledge. His journey turns into a spiritual awakening full of danger. The Secret movie corresponds with a best-selling self-help book written by Rhonda Byrne. The movie explains a universal law, the law of attraction. The movie tells us, that the universe is governed by a natural "law" called the law of attraction, which naturally works in every aspect of our lives by attracting into a person's life the experiences, situations, events and people that "match the frequency" of the person's thoughts and feelings.
The basic idea of the movie is, that transformation of our minds into positive thinking can create also positive life changes such as increased happiness, health, and wealth. So, we are completely responsible for the quality of life we have and we can change it, if we change our inner attitude and thinking patterns.

While he was at a lowest period in his life, one day he wrote an angry letter to God asking questions about why his life isn't working. After writing down all of his questions, he heard a voice inside saying: "Do you really want an answer to all these questions or are you just venting?" In surprise, he turned around and he saw no one there. But he felt answers to his questions in his mind and decided to write them down. This dialogue became the Conversations with God books.
This movie is based on the real life story. A man had a serious car crash. When the rescue came, he had no pulse for an hour and a half and police thought he is death. Then, one man felt an urge to pray for the death man, so he went in the car and started to pray and sang praise songs. The 'dead' man started singing with him. He had a pulse again. The man refused his recovery efforts and people didn't know why. Later, he explained his friend, that he was in heaven, and he is angry, because God brought him back from light into the life of incredible pain.
